Until I reached the defend the holy relic section of the game and couldn’t get past it. What I didn’t realise was, that when you go over a boost you let go of the accelerator to gain a bigger boost, I’d always held down the accelerator like there’s no tomorrow and never got close, who’d have thought to go faster you let your foot off the gas?Īnother game I decided to go back to was Beowulf (Xbox 360), I started playing this on hard and thought to myself, ‘This is manageable’.

I worked out how I had been going wrong all those years and how to beat him (it still took a few goes but I did it). I hadn’t gone up against him in a while, and thought I would give it another go. So last year I decided to tackle my 20 year nemesis Wizpig from Diddy Kong Racing (Nintendo 64). Firstly, I hate being beaten by any game, as long as it’s a good enjoyable game – if it’s plain bad I have no issue leaving it unfinished. I thought I’d share a couple of my gaming accomplishments from last year. So in the end I’m actually quite happy that GAME are so bad at being a shop as sad as I would be to see it go I think it is time that GAME shut down their stores and concentrated on e-commerce, which might help them to lower their prices (even online they sell stuff for £5-10 more than anywhere else, presumably to help cover the cost of the shops). And with just over a day left the bids for all of them are already higher than the trade-in value offered by GAME anyway. Presuming that the store would essentially be ordering the game from exactly the same place as I would if I ordered through the website I just don’t understand what they are charging the extra £10-15 for? After a discussion with the staff, which heeded no answers to the questions I was asking, I actually left the store and immediately listed the games I had wanted to trade on eBay. However, I soon realised that my local store doesn’t actually seem to have anything in stock any more – everything that I looked at had an ‘available to order’ sticker on the front! Coupled with the fact that everything in store is £10-15 more expensive than it is on their website I am literally left completely dumbfounded! So I went into my local GAME at the weekend, because I had some old games to trade in and wanted something new for my Switch. But being Nintendo it really is impossible to predict. Our guess would be that the next game will still be something similar to Breath Of The Wild, perhaps even one that reuses a lot of its assets – in the same way that Majora’s Mask did with Ocarnia Of Time. GC: We’re sure they’re wondering that themselves. However, being Nintendo, I’m sure they will. However, I wonder how they will ever make a sequel to this? Will it be just another open world layout with different story? I think they have created a game so perfect that they have ruined their chances of creating a superior sequel. This is my favourite game of all time already. However, I am 50 hours into Zelda, having completed the four dungeons, and I think I’m ready for the final battle. I finished Mario and thought it was simply stunning in every way. I got a Switch with Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Breath Of The Wild for Christmas. An asset can be anything from a game, but in that context would most commonly refer to textures and object models – and potentially things like how the controls or camera work.Į-mail your comments to: was never a massive Nintendo fan, and have never completed a Zelda or Mario game. Unless you mean the remaster of the remake, which in itself was fairly straightforward.

GC: Resident Evil wasn’t a remaster it was a full remake. I guess we’ll find out soon enough, but it seems the Switch version was the driving force behind the remaster and Steam users getting it half price if they own The Prepare to Die edition suggest it will fall below the gold standard for remasters: Resident Evil. The original game just with a really good polish and wax. It seems more likely it’ll be like Dark Souls II on next gen. I won’t pretend I fully know what an asset is but I’m taking it to mean the game won’t have new textures or be reskinned in the Dark Souls III engine.

I had in mind something as extensive as the upcoming Shadow Of The Colossus remaster.īut From Software said they wouldn’t be using any new assets from the Dark Souls III engine. I think I’m already Preparing to Die inside a little with the Dark Souls remaster.
